The Yoruba are a noisy people who have a wild sense of humor, full of religious rituals, masquerades and soul moving music. Back in the days the Yoruba communicated by Talking drums. The artistry, head ties and customs are fascinating.

SEPTEMBER 12-25, 2022

  • Day 1 - NYC - Depart abroad Delta Airlines, entertainment and meals aboard @ 6:45 PM

  • Day 2 - LAGOS - 10:20 PM Arrival, transfer to Eko Hotel/Federal Palace or similar. Welcome Dinner (D)

  • Day 3 - LAGOS - City tour Victoria Island and Lekki Peninsular, tour of Nikki Art Gallery, lunch @ Bogobiri Orishirishi restaurant, enjoy the Yoruba Art ambiance After lunch return to Hotel. (B/L)

  • Day 4 - MOMBASA - Lagos Mainland tour including the Museum, Oba of Lagos Palace, Jankara Market, Akerele and Balogun markets. You can order your clothing or buy readymade ones. After lunch tour Ikeja the capital of Lagos State, Ikeja Mall

  • Day 5 - LAGOS BADAGRY-SUN & SAND Yoruba Religious presentations at breakfast. Drive to Badagry a coastal town which lies between the city of Lagos and the border of the Republic of Benin, Seme. It is a historic town that is symbolic of Nigeria’s journey to independence. The town was a major slave port and market on the West African coast, exporting no fewer than 600,000 African slaves to America. Tour highlights include Badagry Heritage Museum, Point of no Return, Serkin Abbas Barracoon etc. Finish off your visit @ Coconut Beach far removed from the noise of suburbia surrounded by holiday resorts, vacation huts, fresh air, palm trees, fresh air and an open sky. Bask in your swimwear on the beach. Evening return to Lagos (B/L)

  • Day 6 - ABEOKUTA - After breakfast depart for Abeokuta (Home of Rocks) where topography proved a safe abode for defense during the fierce Yoruba Wars of the 19th century. OLUMO Rock provides a look out point of endless fascination, and mystical concerns, shrines can be found in these high inclines. There are Five Obas in Abeokuta, the main one is the Oba Alake who lives at AKE Palace. Tour and overnight Park Inn Radisson Hotel

  • Day 7 - ABEOKUTA Abeokuta is also world famous for her tie-dye cloth known as ADIRE. We shall explore all the fascinating points of this dynamic Yoruba city, visit some shrines and Babalawo’s. Overnight Park Inn by Radisson Hotel. (B/L)

  • Day 8 - ABEOKUTA- IBADAN - After breakfast transfer to Ibadan, the largest Black African city south of the Sahara spread over 7 hills, with highland scales and valleys. Tour highlights include the University of Ibadan visit the Institute of African Studies, then visit The National Museum of Art, Mapo Hll, Oja Oba etc. Evening lecture on Yoruba Culture and Welcome dinner hosted by the locals.   • Day 9 - IBADAN - Continue with your Ibadan tour and explore the local Yoruba culture. Overnight (B)

  • Day 10 - IBADAN/IFE - This tour will take you further into Yoruba territory, right up to the cradle of the Yoruba “IFE”, the spiritual HQ of the Yoruba There are over 300 shrines in the Oba’s Palace, the guards will tell you some fascinating Yoruba mythology concerning these shrines on our tour. After Breakfast, transfer to Ife drive downtown to pay a courtesy call on the Oni of Ife His Royal Imperial Majesty Enitan Adeyeye Ogunquit Ojaja 11. Special audience after receiving blessings of his Royal Majesty. You will spend the rest of the day enjoying the traditional ambiance of Ife - Museum of Antiquities of Ife. Evening readings and divinations at the world headquarters of Ifa Oracle, called Oketase in the ancient city you will meet Babalawo’s. You will get to taste palm-wine and enjoy spicy Yoruba dishes.   • Day 11 - OSHOGBO - Hometown of the fertility goddess “OSUN” Half day tour Oshogbo Osun shrines and Groves (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE) Visit Nike Cultural Center, the artists' Village, Susan Wenger's Home, go get some readings from Shrine Priestesses. Make sure you have Kolanuts as offerings. Visit Duro Ladipo’s compound. He was the father of Yoruba Theatrical arts. Return to Ife, overnight (B/L)

  • Day 12 - IFE-LAGOS - After breakfast return to Lagos. Traditional Yoruba Farewell dinner (B/D)

  • Day 13 - LAGOS-NEW YORK - Day at leisure, 10 PM flight to New York

  • Day 14 - NEW YORK - 5:55 AM ARRIVAL
